DANCING IN MY MOTHERS' ARMS

"Chadwick.....an exquisite find" The Guardian

a solo song theatre performance accompanied by a pack of cards and a pair of hands, by something bowed and the smallest dance, by a drum and a heart beat. The show includes a Georgian ballad and the smallest cup of tea. Helen takes us from a ballet class to a Russian hotel in the Kremlin in this song cycle celebrating a female heritage. There are lyrics by Argentinean, Georgian, Russian, and Indian poets.

"Hers is the storyteller's gift of enchantment" Caduceus

A SONG IN MY FOOT
"Immaculate a cappella" Classical Source
A celebration of the vibrancy of South America. the performance draws on poetry and musical ideas from Helen's tours in Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, and Bolivia. This uplifting a cappella performance by four singers includes songs with foot patterns, cross rhythms and body percussion. Influenced by the Quechua women's dances in Bolivia, by the patterns of pan pipes, and by Brazilian children's clapping games. The songs are interlaced with wild and delicious stories from these singing journeys.

SONGS OUT OF
THE HIDDEN CONTINENT

"Helen Chadwick orchestrates a haunting evening.......exceptional" SCENE
Toasts and songs. Since the break up of the Soviet Union Helen has toured and done song research in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, the Ukraine and Russia. Songs out of the Hidden Continent is inspired by these travels. The songs include examples of magnificent traditional songs as well as Helen's harmony songs, inspired by a Russian text, a Georgian dance or a Ukrainian harmony. The songs are woven together with traditional toasts and pancake making.

NOT THE LOVE STORY I WAS EXPECTING
"The wickedly talented Helen Chadwick has done it again" Women in Music

The love poetry of Turkey, Persia, Russia, England, France, Spain and Chile provide the lyrics for a cycle of songs threaded with unexpected, hilarious and often disastrous love stories. This heart warming concert includes Chadwick's georgous harmony songs and their unique talent for bringing poetry to life alongside humour and playfulness.

PAX PACE PAZ PAIX PEACE
"like finding an exquisitely hand-crafted bowl in a shop full of tourist tat…"
The Guardian

Commissioned for Trafalgar Square this performance is inspired by those who work for peace. It includes lyrics by Aung San Suu Kyi and Pablo Neruda.

SITE SPECIFIC PERFORMANCES

Helen has created many site specific events, including for the Royal Opera House and Greenwich Festival.

Specially designed for the acoustics and architecture of each venue, the performances utilise the chosen venue to the full with singers moving through the space, now above, now among, now surrounding the audience. Simple movement patterns reflect both the material of the songs and the building itself.

"The concert was unbelievably strong and far exceeded my expectations. Wonderful music and ideas, presented with passion and intelligence.
Helen achieved extraordinary things with this illuminating project, which combined powerful ideas,
music and movement with intimacy and style.
It was a real tour de force evening of brilliance and passion." Bradley Hemmings, Greenwich Festival Director on A BODY OF SONG

The Singing Circle received standing ovations at the Royal Opera House

Both these performances are adaptable for other spaces.

New site specific commssions can also be created.
